Mission — About — Why —

Mission — About — Why —

We can maintain what we love about working at the Buffalo AKG while empowering ourselves to negotiate for safer working conditions, sustainable wages, and widespread job security, and benefits.

By gaining a collective voice in the terms and conditions of our employment, we will be able to create a just workplace that safeguards equitable, ethical, and inclusive treatment across all departments of the museum.

Our mission.

Through unionizing, we want to create a democratic workplace where our voices will be heard.

We want to build on the Buffalo AKG Art Museum’s forward-thinking, pioneering legacy by ensuring that, as a workforce, transformation, innovation and growth come with respect, integrity, and fairness.

Who we are.

We are the workers who keep the Buffalo AKG running.

We are proud to support the mission of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. We love the work we do to support local and international artists, and the creation and presentation of new art in its many forms.

Why we’re organizing.

We began working with Workers United in November of 2023 to address low wages, staffing levels, lack of job security, and unsustainable working conditions.

Buffalo AKG Staff deserve a living wage and a collective voice to bargain on important issues like health and safety measures, and reliable and affordable health coverage.
